Directory Information

Information classified as Directory Information is verified without written consent of the student. The following categories have been designated by the University as directory information:

  • name
  • address
  • telephone number
  • major
  • class
  • date and place of birth
  • participation in officially recognized activities and sports
  • weight and height of members of athletic teams
  • dates of attendance and course load status
  • candidacy for degree
  • degrees (including dates awarded) and awards received
  • most recent previous educational agency or institution attended

Students who do not want such information to be released should have a Request to Prevent Disclosure of Directory Information form on file at the University Registrar's Office. 

Many agencies require verification of information that has not been designated as Directory Information, such as grade point average, number of hours for which the student is enrolled, and academic standing. A written request from the student authorizes release of such information. This request must include a description of the information to be released, the address to which it is to be mailed, student's Social Security number and/or UID, and student's signature.
