General Education Requirements
Students may register for second-half semester courses, (provided seats are available) through the first day the class is scheduled to begin. To do so, the student must bring photo ID to the Student Service & Referral Center, 107 Moulton Hall.
Any changes during the semester should be reported as soon as possible. For your convenience you may update your address in any of the following ways:
To Audit a course you must first register for that course. An Auditor Registration Slip may then be picked up at Student Service and Referral Center (SSRC), Moulton 107 or downloaded from the “Forms” section on the University Registrar’s website. The slip must be signed by the instructor and returned to the Registrar’s Office. Bring your photo ID. The last day to put a course on Audit for Spring 2010 January 25, 2010. Please note, if you are taking 16 or more hours and would like to audit a course, please contact Student Accounts for billing information.
To be eligible for graduation or maintain good academic standing, an undergraduate student must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (C) or 3.0 (B) if a graduate student in all courses taken at Illinois State University for which grades of A, B, C, D, or F are assigned.

Any student expecting to complete degree requirements by the close of the Spring, Summer or Fall semesters must file an application for graduation. Undergraduate students must apply and pay a $25 graduation fee by February 5, 2010 if expecting to earn an May 2010. Degree applications are available in the Student Service and Referral Center, 107 Moulton Hall or at www.registrar.ilstu.edu/registrar/forms.
Graduate students must pay a $30 fee and file an application for completion of degree by January 13 if earning an May 2010 degree. Applications are available in Hovey Hall 309 or at http://www.grad.ilstu.edu.
Undergraduate students completing degree requirements during the Fall semester participate in the December ceremony. Undergraduate students completing degree requirements during the Spring or Summer semesters participate in the May ceremonies. The University Registrar located in Moulton 102 must approve any exception to this regulation in writing.
Graduate Students: Graduate students who are eligible to graduate and want to walk across the stage in their commencement ceremony must fill out the commencement participation section on the Application for Completion of Graduate Degree by the published deadline. An application must be on file and the graduation fee paid by the deadline to participate in the commencement ceremony.
Master’s Degree candidates: Master’s Degree candidates completing degree requirements during the Fall semester participate in the December ceremony. Master’s Degree candidates completing degree requirements during the Spring or Summer semesters participate in the May ceremonies. The Director of Graduate Studies located in Hovey Hall 309 must approve any exception to this regulation in writing.
Doctoral Degree candidates: Doctoral Degree candidates must complete all degree requirements in order to participate in commencement. Candidates completing degree requirements during the Fall semester participate in the December ceremonies. Candidates completing degree requirements during the Spring semester participate in the May ceremonies. Candidates completing degree requirements during the Summer semester participate in the following December ceremonies.
