Academic Policies & Procedures
Through January 28 - Students may drop a course on the iCampus Portal. No withdrawal grade is assigned during this period and a course withdrawal form signed by the instructor is not required.
January 29- March 7 - Students may withdraw from a course by completing a course withdrawal form and having a conference with the instructor of the course from which they wish to withdraw. The form should be obtained from the department which offers the course. Students must then deliver the Withdrawal From Course form signed by the instructor to the Student Service & Referral Center, 107 Moulton Hall within 24 hours (students must first check out of any lab courses).
Friday February 8 - Last day to withdraw from a first-half semester course with a withdrawal grade (WX) assigned.
Friday March 7 - Last day to withdraw from a full-semester course with a withdrawal grade (WX) assigned.
Thursday March 20 - Last day to drop a second-half semester course with no withdrawal grade assigned.
Friday April 11 - Last day to withdraw from a second-half semester course with a withdrawal grade (WX) assigned.
A WX grade is not computed in the student's GPA. For courses taken during a term lasting less than half a semester, please see the Student Service & Referral Center to obtain proportional withdrawal deadlines.
See http://www.comptroller.ilstu.edu/studentaccounts/ for Course Withdrawal Refund Policy.
Students who wish to withdraw from the University must obtain clearance for room and board and other financial obligations. Consult the catalog for additional responsibilities.
Through January 28 - Students who must withdraw from the University (all classes) do so by reporting in person with photo ID, by letter, or by fax to the Student Service and Referral Center, 107 Moulton Hall, between 8 am and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday or during Spring extended hours Monday through Thursday evenings until 5:30 p.m. and Fridays until 4:30. No grades are assigned to courses dropped during this period.
After January 28 - Before the end of the twelfth week of classes, students contemplating withdrawal from the University must contact Student Service and Referral Center, 107 Moulton Hall. The student will not be required to contact his or her instructors. If the withdrawal occurs on or before March 7 (the last day to withdrawal from a single course), WX grades are assigned for all courses. If the withdrawal occurs after March 7, the instructor of each course would assign a WP, WF, WX, or letter grade as appropriate. If medical or similar substantial reasons make it impossible for the student to follow the usual procedures, a letter signed by the student explaining the situation and requesting withdrawal from the University will be sufficient. Whether delivered in person, by mail or by fax, the withdrawal is processed in Office of the University Registrar. Withdrawals requested by mail should be addressed to Office of the University Registrar, Illinois State University, Campus Box 2202, Normal, IL 61790-2202. The fax number is (309) 438-8652. Any student withdrawing after the eligible refund dates is fully liable for any unpaid amounts needed to conform with the University Withdrawal Refund Policy. Regardless of the circumstances of withdrawal, the student must obtain clearance for room and/or board obligations.
The last day for any student to withdraw from the University is Friday, April 11, 2008.
