Students anticipating an absence from campus due to their program of study for an entire semester may be eligible for a partial fee reduction. Every student pays nine general fees per credit hour (see Student Accounts website for fee structure). Of the nine, three fees, General Activity, Health Service and Athletic & Service fees, are eligible for the fee reduction program. You may submit only one form per semester.
The deadline for submitting a request is as follows:
Students requesting a fee reduction should be aware that they will no longer be eligible to receive any of the benefits for which these three fees cover. Completion of this form will not affect the premium charged for the Student Health Insurance, as the insurance provides coverage anywhere in the world.
Study abroad, Internet and extension courses have fees which are non-refundable. Students are NOT eligible for ANY fee reduction if: student has a tuition waiver or scholarship which covers fees (e.g. Illinois Military, Special Ed., General Assembly, ISAC Map) and/or student is scheduled for an on-campus course, however brief, during any part of the term (summer, fall or spring) including dissertation, master's thesis, and all independent study hours.
Pay your initial bill in full and do not deduct from your tuition/fee bill any amount to which you feel you are entitled. Students enrolled in a payment plan, or students with a balance due, will have the appropriate fee reduction deducted from their account. If approved and your account is current, a refund check will be issued and mailed to your local address by the middle of the semester. Charges may take up to 8 weeks to be adjusted for the summer session. If your local address is not on file, the refund will be sent to your home address.
