Withdrawal from a course for Spring 2013

Students may drop a class in one of the following ways:

  • Drop the course online using My.IllinoisState.edu (This option is available October 8th-January 28th when registration is open).
  • Come in person to the Registrar Service Center located in 107 Moulton Hall.  Photo id is required.  The Registrar Service Center is open Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
  • Mail a letter requesting the course be dropped.  The letter must be signed and can be mailed to:  Illinois State University, Office of the University Registrar, Campus Box 2202, Normal, IL  61790-2202.
  • Fax a request to the Registrar Service Center.  The request must be signed, contain a copy of a photo id and can be faxed to (309) 438-8652.

Requests must be received by the following deadlines:


October 8, 2012-January 28, 2013 – Students may drop a course with no withdrawal grade and a full refund. 
Friday, February 8th – Last day to withdraw from a first-half semester course.  A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned. 
Friday, March 8th – Last day to withdraw from a full-semester course.   A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned.  No refund issued.
Thursday, March 21st – Last day to drop a second-half semester course with no withdrawal grade and a full refund.
Friday, April 12th – Last day to withdraw from a second-half semester course.  A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned.  No refund issued.


A withdrawal grade of WX is not computed in the student’s GPA.  For courses taken during the term that last less than half a semester (i.e. five weeks), please contact the Registrar Service Center at (309) 438-2188 to obtain proportional withdrawal deadlines.  Information regarding the Withdrawal Refund Policy can be found at:  http://studentaccounts.illinoisstate.edu/withdrawal/

 

 

University Withdrawal Information for spring 2013 (withdrawal from all courses)

Regardless of the circumstances of withdrawal, students must still obtain clearance for room and board and other financial obligations.  Please consult the catalog for additional responsibilities.  Students may withdraw from the University in one of the following ways:

  • Drop courses online using My.IllinoisState.edu (This option is available October 8th-January 28th when registration is open).

  • Email a request to have all courses dropped to registrar@ilstu.edu  Only requests sent from a student’s Illinois State University email account will be processed.  Requests made through Yahoo, Google, etc. will not be accepted.
  • Mail a letter requesting withdrawal from the University.  The letter must be signed and can be mailed to:  Illinois State University, Office of the University Registrar, Campus Box 2202, Normal, IL  61790-2202.
  • Fax a request to the Registrar Service Center.  The request must be signed, contain a copy of a photo id and can be faxed to (309) 438-8652.

Requests must be received by the following deadlines:


October 8, 2012-January 13, 2013 – Students may withdraw from the University with no withdrawal grades assigned and a full refund of tuition and fees.
January 14th-January 28th – Students may withdraw from the University with no withdrawal grades assigned.  Students are refunded tuition and fees less a $30.00 service charge.
January 29th-April 12th – Students may withdraw from the University.  A withdrawal grade of WX will be assigned for all courses.  Refunds are issued in accordance to the Withdrawal Refund Policy found at:  http://studentaccounts.illinoisstate.edu/withdrawal/
After April 12th-Students are no longer permitted to withdraw from the University for the spring 2013 semester and will earn a letter grade in all courses.
