Changing Special Information

Address Change

You may change your address in any of the following ways:

  • Complete the change online through the iCampus Portal.
  • Request the change, in person, with photo ID at the Student Service & Referral Center, 107 Moulton Hall or call 309/438-2188, and the change will be accepted by phone.

NOTE:  Graduating Seniors and Graduate Students--Address Changes for Diplomas: To change the address for the diploma, seniors should notify Evaluation Services, Moulton Hall 106. Graduate students should notify the Graduate School, Hovey Hall 310.  If notifying by mail, include your University Identification Number and sign the request.

Changes of address for University residence halls and University-owned apartments are maintained online by staff in the University Housing Services. Note:  addresses for employees are maintained by Human Resources or Academic Personnel.

Name Change

Due to the danger of identity theft, persons who wish to change their first, middle, or last names on their transcripts or diplomas must provide a copy of their marriage license, a court order, or a dissolution decree certifying their name change. Please send a photocopy of one of these documents, a copy of a photo ID and your written or faxed request to the Student Service & Referral Center. We cannot accept only a copy of your current driver's license or social security card without documentation. Please be sure to sign this request as without your signature, we cannot process your name change.

NOTE:  Graduating Seniors and Graduate Students--Name Changes for Diplomas: To change the Name for the diploma, seniors should notify Evaluation Services, Moulton Hall 106. Graduate students should notify the Graduate School, Hovey Hall 310.  If notifying by mail, include your University Identification Number and sign the request.  For name changes in the Commencement booklet*, contact the Dean of Students office (309-438-2836).

Social Security Number

If your social security number is incorrect, report the error to the Student Service & Referral Center, Moulton Hall, Room 107. The staff will correct the social security number and report the corrected SSN to several offices on campus who utilize information from the various files (Housing, Financial Aid, Parking, Library, Student Dispute Resolution Services, Payroll, Graduate School, Honors, etc.). Use the incorrect social security number until you receive notification that the correction has been made. The systems to correct social security numbers are run nightly. Please note: a signed social security card as well as a photo ID is required to initiate this correction.
