Academic Progress Summary Definitions

Here is a list of definitions for to help you understand the information contained on your Academic Progress Summary.

Summary of major requirements.

Says "APPL" if you have applied for graduation.

MINIMUM DEGREE HOURS

Minimum required to graduate is 120 semester hours. Some programs may require more hours. The summary will not show hours over the minimum of 120.

PLEASE NOTE: Transfer credit from community colleges is limited to 66 semester hours plus 4 hours of PE activity courses; credit from four-your colleges and universities is limited to 90 semester hours. Consult your Transfer Statement to determine the number of transfer hours that will count toward the minimum hours required for your degree.

SENIOR COLLEGE HOURS

This includes 200 level and above courses at Illinois State and courses from four year schools that are senior college level at that school. Minimum senior college required to graduate is 42 semester hours. The summary will not show more than 42 senior college hours.

Totals for University Studies requirements listed at the bottom of page 1. (97-98 or earlier catalogs)

SCIENCE (B.S.)
(indicated with "S")

Students pursuing a B.S. degree will complete one additional 3 hour natural science, mathematics, statistics or technology course beyond the General Education program requirements. See catalog for list of approved courses to meet this requirement.

LANGUAGE (B.A.)
(indicated with "L")

Students pursuing the B.A. degree will acquire knowledge of a foreign language as demonstrated by successful completion of FOR 115 or equivalent.

ISU RESIDENCE HOURS

30 of last 60 hours must be completed at Illinois State unless you are a major in the College of Business which requires the last 30 hours in residence.

DEGREE APPLICATION

INC GRADES CLEARED

Says "INC" if you have an incomplete grade on your record. You cannot graduate if you have an incomplete grade.

US CONSTITUTION & IL CONSTITUTION

The US and IL constitution requirement can be met by successful completion of any one course in the Middle Core-Individuals and Civic Life category or by other ways as noted in the catalog.

All plans will say "THE STUDENT DOES NOT YET MEET GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS" until all grades have been posted and the final audit has been completed.

If your plan says "THE MAJOR/MINOR PLAN OF STUDY IS NOT COMPLETE," contact the appropriate advisor and have the advisor enter the electives you have taken or plan to take into your plan of study on the computer.
