Veteran must be a resident of Illinois within six months both before and after 1 year or more of active service or who served on federal active duty service in a foreign country during a time of hostilities in that country, and received an honorable discharge. The IVG pays tuition and certain fees at any Illinois public college. This grant may be used at the undergraduate or graduate level for the equivalent of four academic years of full-time enrollment. A maximum of 120 units may be covered under the IVG. The Veteran must complete the IVG application and submit it with a photocopy of their DD-214 Member 4 to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Visit their website to download the application or to receive additional information. An Award Letter will be sent to the Veteran at the address that is submitted on the application.
A copy of the Award Letter must be submitted immediately to the Financial Aid Office, Fell Hall 231.
